Few months ago, my husband of years had a stroke and can’t drive. We can’t afford a driver and he expects me to take up driving again. I went off it after I had a bad accident and I’m terrified of getting back behind the wheel. He said I should learn to get over my fears as we could be more mobile and save on public transport. Any hints?

How badly do you want to get back behind the wheel? It’s far safer to enrol in a driving school so you could build back your confidence. Your husband has driven you for years, now repay the favour and think of the advantages – the world will become a lot more interesting if your husband can get out and about as you go places together.
