Govt vows to rout cultists terrorising Rivers

The Rivers State Government has vowed to deal with cultists that are terrorizing communities in the state.

Special Adviser to Governor Nyesom Wike on Conflict Resolution, Chief Okori Abelekum, yesterday, said that the cultists disturbing Omudioga community in Emohua local Government Area of the state would not go scot free unless they repent and give peace a chance.

Abelekum spoke in Port Harcourt at a two-day mediation and community Reconciliation workshop for community leaders in conflict affected communities in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of the state.

Cultists allegedly invaded Omudioga community on Saturday and killed no fewer than  four persons during a suspected cult war in the area.

In the early hours of yesterday, cultists stormed the community again killed one person, burnt about three house and sacked the community.

The Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Command, Mr Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed that police have mobilized personnel in Omudioga and that one person was feared killed, yesterday.

Reaction to the development, Abelekum said the interest of the Governor Nyesom Wike was for there to be  total peace in all the communities of the state, stressing  that peace and security of the state were the reasons the governor instituted the state amnesty programme.
