Chief Executive Officer, Judenith Nigeria Limited, Delta State, Lady Judith Nwanchukwu, has called on Nigerians to Invest massively in agriculture, saying that it was capable of improving the nations economic fortunes and bringing it out of recession.
Lady Judith, who made the call in Sapele in an interview, noted that crude oil has failed Nigeria, adding that the ‘next big thing’ was agriculture, hence there was the dire need for Nigerians to invest in agriculture.
Lady Judith, who is also the Vice-Preident, South-South Chamber of Commerce, Nigeria, said : ” I can assure you that agriculture is the next big thing and we can’t be wrong if we invest in agriculture. We have doctors, lawyers, and even former presidents who are farmers. Whether you are big or small, you need food to survive, in fact; food is essential to our existence.
” So, going into farming is a step in the right direction. You can plant vegetables, cassava or even rare chicken as the case may be and you have absolutely nothing to loose but something to gain. For instance, being a farmer will not stop you from working as a journalist.
” You can rare chicken at the back of your house, which means additional income to you. Instead of buying chicken every time, you can rare chicken and it will save you extra expenses. Agriculture is the way to go.”
The CEO explained that due to her involvement in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry , a cooperative she belonged to was currently partnering with some groups at the grassroots with a view to bringing agriculture to the door steps of Deltans and to encourage farmers by providing finance, training and tools to enhance productivity.
She stated that the cooperative was working on a particular initiative to take farming to the next level and in no distant date, it would set the ball rolling in the state.
