Police assure on security during Eid-el-Fitr

BENIN—ZONE 5 of the Nigeria Police Force, Benin City, Edo State, has assured residents in the three states under its control, Bayelsa, Edo and Delta, of the security of their lives and property during the celebration of the Muslim festival of Eid- el- fitr.

A statement in Benin City, yesterday, by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer,  Mr. Emeka Iheanacho, for the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the Zone, Mr. Abubakar Mohammed, said that security had been beefed up at all the mosques, worship centres, recreation centres, Radio and Television houses, cinema halls, among others, in the states.

He added that men of the Tactical Operation Squad, Intervention Squad, Counter Terrorist Unit and Explosive Ordinance Division Unit etc, have been deployed to strategic locations across the zone to ensure security of lives and property during the celebration.

He explained that being mindful of the fact that there would be heavy traffic during the period, motorists traversing the three states should cooperate with officers deployed for traffic duties during the period.

He advised the public to be security conscious and report any suspicious persons or movement to the nearest Police Station.
