ABEOKUTA-Men of Ogun State Police Command have arrested two persons for allegedly breaking into mobile network operator , Etisalat site in Isara Remo in the state and allegedly stole eight heavy duty batteries valued at about N1.2 million.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state , Abimbola Oyeyemi in a statement said , the two suspects, Bashiru Jelili and Madu Nwete were arrested following a tip off about their activities and their hideout.
Oyeyemi said “they have earlier broken into the site of the communication giant where the heavy duty batteries were stolen and sold to one Obinna who is now at large.
“Investigation revealed that the said Obinna is known for receiving stolen properties in the area.
“Immediately the case was reported, the DPO Isara division detailed detectives to unravel the identity of whoever is behind the dastardly act.
“Their efforts led to the arrest of the two suspects who had made confessional statements and all the stolen batteries have been recovered.
” Efforts are on to apprehend the fleeing Obinna who is the receiver. Meanwhile the commissioner of police CP Ahmed Iliyasu has directed that the suspects be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded”.
