The student body, in a statement signed by its Senate President, Bamigbade Taiwo, said that it would visit Tinubu at his resident on June 12, 2017 to solicit his intervention in the crisis that has led to the shutting down of LAUTECH for over year.

Recall that the institution jointly owned by Osun and Oyo state governments was closed down due to an alleged inability of the two states to pay salaries of lecturers and also meet the demands set by Academic Union of University Staff, ASUU.

According to the statement, the scheduled visit was necessitated to plead with Asiwaju Tinubu, LAUTECH Chancellor, and an elder statesman of All Progressive Congress, APC,  to call on governors Rauf Aregbesola and Abiola Ajimobi to resolve the crisis rocking the school amicably.

His words, “Our visit to Sen. Tinubu, an elder statesman in the nation’s ruling party is for him not to allow the collective heritage of Yoruba race and labour of our heroes like Pa Ladoke Akintola to be in vain. Being the Chancellor of this great institution we know him as a father and great voice in Nigerian who believe that youth development and education are panacea to sustain peace and achieve global development.”
