MAKURDI—Governor Samuel Ortom has sacked the Executive Secretary of Benue State Examination Board, Mr. Charlie Young, and other top management staff of the board over issues allegedly “bothering on integrity”.

The state’s Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Dennis Ityavyar, who made this known yesterday in Makurdi, said Mr. Asen Alexander had been appointed to head the board in acting capacity,

Professor Ityavyar said the decision was taken to re-position the examinations board and also have it conduct the much delayed Basic Education Certificate Examination, BECE, across the state.

Vanguard gathered that the decision to relieve the management staff of the board of their jobs might not also be unconnected with the inability of the board to conduct the BECE months after parents paid the requisite fees to have their wards write the examination.

No official reasons was  given for the delay in conducting the examina-tion despite inquiry by parents over their wards’ fate.
