Dismissed soldier arrested for car theft

YENAGOA—THE Police in Bayelsa State have arrested, for the third time, a dismissed soldier, who specialises in car theft.

The suspect, Andrew, 34, was reportedly dismissed from the Nigerian Army in 2014 for mutiny, following courtroom martial while serving at 3 Battalion in Delta State.

Asuquo Amba, the Commissioner of Police, who paraded the suspect at the command headquarters in Yenagoa yesterday, described the suspect as “a habitual criminal; who is constantly in the trade.”

He said the suspect was arrested at 1a.m. last Saturday, by policemen for stealing a Toyota Camry car with number plates AP 599 YEN, belonging to Patrick Osain, the Controller, Bayelsa State Environmental Sanitation Authority.
