The ex-governor said the only solution to the agitation that is creating more tension everyday in the country is fiscal restructuring to make people more economically viable.
Attah, who stated this while fielding questions from Journalists at a Mass to mark the Centenary of the first Episcopal Archbishop of Abuja Catholic Metropolitan, Late Eminence, Ignatius Cardinal Ekandem, in Abuja, said government should not listen to the section of the country calling for creation of more states to solve the problem.
His words: “people should not confuse themselves when they talk about restructuring. My concept of restructuring is fiscal restructuring.
“We always have a federation where the region looking out to themselves and contributed certain percentage to their earning to run the government at the centre.
“I believe this is one thing that can bring Nigeria back together. We can just go back to it (fiscal restructuring). If we accept that each state should look after itself, and what we contribute to the centre will no be distributed on the basis of need.
“I believe in fiscal restructuring, fiscal rearrangement of the finances of this country, and if that is done, you will see that all this agitation will die. Nobody really want to go.”
