ASABA—THE Ika Village Square, a socio-cultural group of Ika people, has said it will hold an economic summit in June as part of efforts at showcasing the potential of the Ika nation.
Briefing newsmen in Asaba, chairman of the organising committee, Mr. Eugene Uzum, said the summit with the theme, Harnessing the Economic Potentials of Ika Nation Through Strategic Partnership, will have exhibition, economic and business orientation sessions.
Noting that the summit would be private sector driven, Uzum said it would also examine new dimensions with which Ika nation could partner the private sector.
He said Ika nation, consists of Ika South and Ika North-East Local Government Areas in Delta State and four other local government areas in Edo State.
According to him, Ika nation is blessed with mineral resources like kaolin, coal, bitumen, potash, crude oil, granite and fertile land for agriculture.
He added that the Ika nation was laden with untapped potentials, adding that the “major framework of the summit is to also promote public private partnership by marketing these potentials to investors.
