Power cut brings Imo Assembly session to abrupt end

By Chinonso Alozie

Owerri—Imo State House of Assembly, yesterday, ended plenary abruptly when it could not cope with  power outage interrupting it.

Trouble started few minutes after the Speaker, Mr. Acho Ihim, said the prayers to begin the activities of the day.

At a point when the Speaker was reading a letter from the 27 Transition Committee chairmen, demanding extension of time based on the invitation by the House of Assembly, the lights went off.

After it was restored, the Speaker continued and the lights went off again. This continued intermittently.

When the Speaker saw he could not cope with the  development, he quickly adjourned the sitting till April 12, 2017.

It will be recalled that Vanguard reported a similar development in the previous sitting where the lawmakers were fanning themselves during plenary.
