ENGR. Aminu Jalal, Tuesday, April 19, 2017, handed over powers of National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) to the most senior director in the Council, Mr. Luqman Mamudu, Director Policy and Planning, to hold forth in acting capacity pending the assumption of office of the recently appointed substantive director general, Mr. Jelani Aliyu.
The very brief hand-over formalities took place at the Council’s corporate headquarters in Abuja during an impromptu meeting attended by NADDC management staff.
The former NADDC director general said that he was in contact with Mr. Aliyu and that he would need a little time to tidy up some arrangements in the United States of America before he could come over to assume duties in Nigeria, adding that Mr. Mamudu would over-see the affairs of the Council in acting capacity and hand-over officially to Mr. Aliyu whenever he ressumes.
Engr. Jalal remarked that the Council had been in close interaction with Mr. Jelani Aliyu over the last ten years and had contributed in several ways to the various initiatives to move the auto industry forward under the Nigerian Automotive Industry Policy.
He thanked the management and staff of the Council for their support and cooperation with him which facilitated whatsoever achievements that could be attributed to his tenure and pleaded that a higher level of cooperation be extended to his successor.
Reacting on behalf of management and staff, the acting director general, Mr. Mamudu thanked God for granting Engr. Jalal a most successful career in government service and for completing two terms as Director General/CEO without blemish. On the appointment of Mr. Jelani Aliyu, Mr. Mamudu remarked, “We are most excited and delighted to work with him because his appointment is like a miracle. We have been working closely with him since 2008 on various initiatives but now, God has brought him to come and spearhead the Council.
“Another good thing with his appointment is that Mr. Aliyu has a very large image, everybody knows him. He has the capacity to penetrate various centres of power and also carry along the entire auto industry stakeholders to the advantage of the Council.”
NADDC Director of Administration, Hajiya Adama Saleh wished Engr. Jalal well in retirement and prayed God to be with him in his future endeavours.
