The maiden edition of the North Central Zone Volleyball League has begun in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, retired Commander John Kuje, the Organising Secretary of the North Central Volleyball Council has disclosed.

According to Commander Kuje, the League which spiked off on Friday, will run through to Saturday April 1, 2017 among the six states in the zone comprising Nasarawa, Plateau, Benue, Niger, Kwara, Kogi and the Federal Capital Territory.
“The aim of the league is to assist in the revival and development of the game of volleyball in the zone and country at large. It is also to compliment the effort of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, NVBF in the development of the game while also forming a platform for engaging the youths of the zone in gainful ventures and employment,” Kuje stressed.
The retired Naval officer and FIVB badge volleyball referee added that all the participants will use the league to update their knowledge of the rule of the game, excel and represent the states and the country in national and international competitions respectively.
