Youths of Ugborodo community in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, have accused the management of Chevron Nigeria Limited  of interfering in the right of the people in choosing indigenous contractors that will work with the company.

A statement by the National Chairman of Ugborodo youths, Ofe Nene, said that the alleged connivance of the company’s workers with some individuals of the community to choose indigenous contractors without their knowledge for the operations of the pipeline jobs by some sub-contractors was against the right of the community.

According to him, “This act by Chevron in bringing indigenous contractors from diaspora without the community’s knowledge, has  impoverished our community over the years. We can’t be in our community and watch some officials of the company  bring persons from outside to take over the community’s slots without the knowledge of leaders and indigenes of Ugborodo people.”
