Orji, ex-MILAD, defects to APC in Enugu

By Dennis Agbo

ENUGU—Fortunes of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, further dwindled in Enugu State, weekend, as a former Military Administrator of Gombe State, Group Captain Joe Orji (retd), defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Orji, a retired aircraft engineer with the Nigerian Air Force, among other reasons, cited alleged impunity and exclusiveness as reasons for his ditching the PDP.

He also said President Muhammadu Buhari was his master and an old ally, whom he wants to join hands with to “rescue Nigeria.”

Though Orji was a governorship aspirant of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, in 2003, he later joined the PDP until, weekend, when he rejoined his old friends in the APC.

Orji was received by the South-East National Vice Chairman of APC, Chief Emma Enukwu; state chairman of the party, Dr. Ben Nwoye and South-East National Publicity Secretary, Hycient Ngwu.

The state party chairman, Nwoye said Orji’s decision to join the ruling party was a wise one and called on other political bigwigs in the state and in the entire South-East zone to emulate the retired Air Force chief.
