ABEOKUTA—The Nigerian Union of Teachers has denied suing the Ogun state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun over the sacked members in the state.

The National President of the Union, Micheal Olukoya who led the leaders of the Union from 15 states in the country, said, though, the union was contacted to join a suit against the state governor over the sacked workers in the state , but it rejected the move .

While speaking with newsmen, Olukoya said the NUT believes the state government will pardon the remaining three teachers.

The state government has sacked about 35 workers in the state for allegedly engaging in political act against the state government during the past year World Teachers Day.

Those affected include the State Chairman Nigeria Labour Congress, Akeem Ambali , the NUT Chairman in the state and Dare Ilekoya and over 30 workers in the state.

The state government had later reinstated about 31 workers it had sacked, but yet to do same to three members of the union; Dare Ilekoya (NUT Chairman) Eniola Atiku and Nola Balogun for allegedly politicising the last year teachers day.

Speaking on the steps taken so far, Olukoya noted that the NUT leaders have  visited royal fathers in the state, including Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona who e said was not around during the incident.
