NPA pensioners protest non-payment of increment

FOLLOWING the protest yesterday by the Pensioner Welfare Association of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, on the increment of their pension, the management of the authority has assured them of their resolve to pay within constitutional provision.

In a statement, the Managing Director of the NPA, Ms Hadiza Bala Usman said that the agency will pay  pensioners who are qualified for pension increase in line with Federal Government Constitutional provision will enjoy same.

Already, the agency has set up a Committee to work out the details of the payment.

Bala also assured said that that a mechanism will be put in place to guarantee adjustments that will be sustainable.

Similarly, spokesman of the concerned pensioners of NPA, Mr. Charles Ayo Binitie expressed profound gratitude to the NPA management for the gesture.
