The National Executive Committee, NEC, of Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, has said that a meeting it held at Mosogar, Ethiope West Local Government Area, Delta State, focused on Urhobo nation and its people.
President General of UPU, Chief Joe Omene, also promised to take Urhobo nation to a higher level irrespective of the setbacky a few persons in Urhoboland had caused the body in the last few months.
At the end of the six hours meeting, a vote of confidence was passed in Chief Omene and the NEC for standing firm and focused without bloodletting, while the crisis raged.
Speaking to journalists, National Publicity Secretary of UPU, Chief Duncan Eghweree, confirmed the position of NEC saying it would be better for the courts to clarify if Chief Victor Otomiewor had the power to challenge the authority that guided the congresses of UPU.
Eghweree, said instead of people like Chief Otomiewor, who understand UPU constitution to educate people, he championed the cause to destroy the authority vested by the constitution he actually wrote when he was National Secretary of UPU under late Chief Benjamin Okumagba leadership.
