Late Mr. Shirga

MAKURDI—The raging clashes between herdsmen and local farmers in Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State, yesterday, claimed the life of the local government Secretary of All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Ter Shirga.
Also killed at the weekend attack was a tax collector in the area and three children, some of who were beheaded or hacked to death by the rampaging herdsmen.
Among communities affected in the crisis were Wuav, Dogo, Bav Awuna, Tse-Igyura and Ortese Mbashiam.

Late Mr. Shirga
Vanguard gathered from an eyewitness that the invaders killed the APC scribe after storming his home at Mbagbaan, Tombo.
The eyewitness said: “After killing him and some members of the village including children, who they caught up with, they went further to raze his community.
“As we speak, many houses have been razed, people in the affected communities have deserted their homes while the bodies of some of those people killed are still littering the communities.
“The situation in Buruku is pathetic. There is a heavy refugee situation in the area; women and children are the worst hit because most of them have had no food to eat or water to drink in the last few days.”
Meanwhile, at the time of this report, the Benue State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bashir Makama, was reported to have led a team of police personnel and the military to Buruku to beef up security in the area.
