Four NDDC projects for Okpe Kingdom saddening —Okpe Union

OREROKPE—THE President-General of Okpe Union, Chief Onome Robert, has described as saddening and unfair, the proposal by Niger Delta Development Commission to site only four projects in Okpe Kingdom.

Robert, while reacting to the budget breakdown of the commission, noted that out of the 60 projects allocated to the state, the people of Okpe expect these projects to be fairly distributed across the state.

Speaking to Vanguard, yesterday, at Oreropke, Okpe Local Government Area, Chief Robert said: “A situation were Ughelli North and Isoko North Local Government Areas got over 35 per cent of the projects allocated to the state is unwarranted as this implies that those who are at the helm of affairs in NDDC in the state, allocated more projects to their areas than others who do not have persons in the commission.

“Okpe Kingdom which is made up of Sapele and Okpe councils, has oil wells and pipelines traversing the entire kingdom, hence, we deserve more than the four projects allocated to us.”
