Nigeria’s second representatives in this year’s CAF Champions League, Rivers United crashed out of the continental competition yesterday after going down 4-0 to Sudan’s Al-Merrikh in the second leg of the round of 32 played in Sudan.

The Nigerians who won the first leg 3-0 in Port Harcourt last week could neither hold their own nor match the pace and technical depth of their hosts as they went down 3-0 before half time.

On resumption, the Sudanese increased the tally to 4 goals that ensured the Nigerians were eliminated before the group stage of Africa’s premier club football competition.

All eyes will are now on Rangers of Enugu who also have an uphill task as they take on Zamalek of Egypt in the return leg of their round of 32 clash in Enugu. Rangers lost the first 1- 4 in Cairo last week.
