BENIN—SPEAKER of Edo State House of Assembly, Mr Justin Okonoboh, has said that the passage of the bill banning Community Development Associations, CDAs, will bring to an end the bloodshed perpetrated by some youths in communities under the guise of associations.
The state House of Assembly had, Monday, passed a bill for a law to prohibit forceful and illegal occupation of landed property by community development associations in the state.
The bill from the executive came after His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, banned CDAs in the seven local government areas in Edo South, following the mayhem perpetrated in Benin communities by some youths.
The passage of the bill received unanimous endorsement by the 24 members in the Assembly.
According to Okonoboh, the bill seeks to prohibit forceful and illegal occupation of landed property by community development associations in the state.
