UYO—Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Dr Glory Edet, has charged women of the state to take advantage of the Information Communication Technology, ICT, to improve themselves to meet the demands of the highly technologically innovative labour market.
Dr Edet gave the advice at a seminar to mark the 2017 International Women’s Day celebration in Uyo.
She said since the world had been reduced to a global village through ICT, where every job opportunity is becoming digital, there was need for them, especially the girl-child, to take bold steps to shake off gender barrier and improve themselves so that they can meet the demands of the growing technologically driven labour market.
According to her, “analogue methods of doing things have given way to electronically controlled systems, even in the handling of domestic affairs and gadgets.”
