By Bose Adelaja

An auto crash involving a truck, a bus with number plates SMK 800 XN, and Volkswagen salon car, BDG 947 XR, on old Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway reportedly claimed the lives of seven people, while five others sustained injuries.

The incident was said to have occurred on Monday night at Abule-Oko, Ewekoro Local Government Area at 8.33p.m.

It was also gathered that the Volkswagen car was moving from the Sango-Ota/Ifo axis inward Abeokuta when the truck driver, who was driving against traffic at the time, allegedly lost control and ran into the Volkswagen car.

An eyewitness said: “The bus conveying about 18 passengers was speeding when it ran into the truck, leaving 10 people severely injured and two others dead before the arrival of traffic officials.”

However, as at 4p.m. yesterday, the casualty figures were said to have risen to four females and three males.

The rescue operation was reportedly carried out by officials of Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, and Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, TRACE.

The injured were taken to the Ifo General Hospital, while the dead were deposited at the morgue.

TRACE Public Relations Officer, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the development, urging motorists to avoid driving against traffic.
