Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, has begun moves to resolve the lingering leadership crisis rocking the apex Urhobo socio-cultural body.
Th UPU executives reached the decision in Mosogar, Delta State, at a meeting held with the President-General of the Union, Chief Joe Omene, who said, “We will bring all aggrieved persons to the house in the interest of Urhobo people at home and in Diaspora. No fewer than 20 executive committees of the union’s branches across the 24 kingdoms of the Urhobo nation have resolved to settle the crisis out of court.”
According to Omene, those who signed the communiqué at the end of the meeting included the President of UPU branch in Agbon Kingdom, Mr. Okpara Midevi, the President of UPU branch in Orogun Kingdom, Chief Agboje, that of Okpe Kingdom, Mr. D. Sajere, the President of UPU branch in Ughelli Kingdom, Mr. Isukuru Samson, among others.
