…Asks them to concentrate on Igbo agenda
By Peter Okutu
ABAKALIKI—The leadership of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign state of Biafra, MASSOB, yesterday, advised Governors Rochas Okorocha and Willy Obiano of Imo and Anambra states respectively to stop washing their dirty linen in public and concentrate on giving purposeful leadership to the Igbo.
In a statement issued in Abakaliki, the leader of MASSOB, Mr Uchenna Madu, called on the two governors to make the interest of Ndigbo their piority instead pursuing selfish and irrelevant agenda that will not profit the people.
The statement read: ”This exchange of dirty pleasantries between these governors is as a result of lack of unity, cohesion, understanding and commitment to the zone among the Igbo governors because of poor leadership quality.
“The current leadership of South-East Governors Forum under Rochas Okorocha and non cooperation of his colleagues have immensely affected the collective interest of Ndigbo in Nigeria. They placed their party interest ahead of Igbo interest.
“They have never condemned or spoken out against the unwarranted and unprovoked killings of our people by Northern sponsored Fulani herdsmen in Enugu, Abia, Anambra and Imo states. Also, they have not condemned the Nigeria state sponsored genocide against the non violent Biafra agitators.
“During the era of Mr Peter Obi as the governor of Anambra State and chairman of South-East Governors Forum, this rascality and embarrassment of Ndigbo did not occur because his leadership quality anchors on Igbo interest first before party and personal interests.
“Mr Peter Obi of Anambra State was the best unifying factor of Igbo governors forum and Igbo interest. Even the then Igbo governors of PDP which included T. A. Orji of Abia State, Martin Elechi of Ebonyi State, Sullivan Chime of Enugu State, Ikedi Ohakim and later Rochas Okorocha of Imo State worked as a family and spoke with one voice for the zone under the leadership of Mr Peter Obi.
“Governors Okorocha and Obiano, and indeed other governors of South-East should emulate the simplicity and humility of Mr Peter Obi as the best Igbo governor during his era.
“MASSOB warned that washing one’s dirty clothes in the public is not the best option and political party interest can never be quantified with the general interest of Ndigbo.
“Today, our political detractors are happy celebrating this political madness that is capable of disorganizing our people.”
“As the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo assured of dismantling the embers of discord between the two governors, MASSOB warned the governors should know that Igbo land is bigger than them and they must cooperate with the leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo for a lasting peace and harmony in Igbo land”.
