Exposing sensitive documents can be injurious to the national security – Burati

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Burati, has warned administrative officers against exposure of sensitive military documents, saying this  could be injurious to the nation.

Buratai ,  who was represented by Maj.-Gen. Idris Alkali, gave the advice  on Thursday at the Command Headquarters of the  2 Division, Nigeria Army, Ibadan,

The forum was the opening ceremony of a workshop organised for administrative officers of the command. The workshop was devoted to office management and document security.

Buratai, who noted that the command was aware of the importance of administrative officers in the management and handling of   highly classified documents, said: “The exposure of these documents may by injurious to national security, especially now that the county is facing challenges of insecurity.

“Keeping these documents tight and secure is very important and you are to be alert to your duty and responsibilities. “Consequences of your inactions can cause an irreparable loss to the nation.

“Be careful  in  the  way you discuss  service matters on social media and try as much as possible not to compromise information  as administrative officers of the command.’’

The workshop, he said, could not have come at a better time as it would offer participants new insight on how to secure military documents.

The army chief, who urged the officers to take the workshop seriously, commended   those who partnered to ensure the success of the forum.

Maj.-Gen. Chukwunedum Abraham, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Division,  said that the topic of the workshop was carefully selected to cover important aspects of management and securing of  documents.

Abraham urged the participants to keep an open mind and participate actively so as to derive maximum benefits from the workshop.

He expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for making the workshop a reality, saying regular training at all level was very important in the military.
