Carija Engineering Company says its entry into Nigerian construction sphere will add value to the industry.
The company’s Chairman, Mr. Sheba Palama, disclosed this during the official opening of the company’s head office in Orhuwhorun, Udu Local Government Area of Delta.
“Carija is a world class company in Spain; I decided to go into partnership with them to add value to the construction industry in Nigeria. Nigeria is a developing country; we need more companies to handle the infrastructural development in various areas. I decided to go into a joint venture so that our impact will be felt.
Palama who had been in the oil and gas industry in the past 30 years, said he decided to divest because of the dwindling price of oil at the international market. “We are also going into quarry and farming as well, so that as we are constructing, we are also developing farming.
Developing projects
“One of the major problems is safety, but I told my foreign partners to forget about it because I am part of the system, the company will develop and the country is going to enjoy it,” he said.
Palama said the company currently has four offices in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja and Delta. Mr. Roberto Vazquez, the President, Carija Spain Global, said: “We are ready to collaborate in developing projects especially infrastructure in Nigeria and we will hit the ground strongly.”
Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Eta Enahoro, said: “Carija is welcome to the construction environment in Nigeria and I pray for the success and collaboration with the ministry.”
He urged youths in the community to create the enabling business climate for the company to thrive. “They should stop harassing companies in the name of “development fee,” he said.
