LAGOS—Many waited patiently, praying and hoping that she will be brought out alive by the officials of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, and other emergency agencies, as they battled to bring out the silver-coloured Kia Rio car that plunged into the Lagoon, Saturday night.

However, Chinagorom Adibe, who was one of the occupants of the car, died before the rescue mission was completed. The other occupant, Felix Aniele, who drove the car, swam out to the river bank.

It was gathered the car, with Chinagorom Adibe and Felix Aniele in it, veered off the Mekwen Bridge at Bonny Camp and plunged into the Lagoon, as they were allegedly being chased by some security officers.

Vanguard gathered that the accident occurred at about 7.47p.m. The car and body were recovered five hours later.

At the scene were officials from Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA; Lagos State Ambulance Bus Service, LASAMBUS; Nigerian Police Force, and the National Emergency Management Authority, NEMA.

Probe

The General Manager of LASEMA, Adesina Tiamiyu, said that a full scale investigation will be conducted into the incident by the appropriate authorities.

He added that the car had since been handed over to police, while the corpse was deposited at the Mainland Hospital Mortuary, Lagos.
