As the date for the CAF elections slated for March 16, 2017 draws near, presidential hopeful and president of the Madagascar Football Association, Ahmad Ahmad has advanced reasons why he is seeking to succeed incumbent CAF president, Issa Hayatou.

According to Ahmad who said that he has nothing personal against Hayatou, he hopes to introduce more Ex footballers in the Technical committee of the Confederation as well as propose a new process of deciding the host for CAF Competitions.

This may not be unconnected to the withdrawal of the hosting right of the 2017 U-17 Nations Cup from Madagascar, Ahmad’s country by the Executive Committee of CAF after he declared interest to challenge Hayatou for the CAF presidency.

The Madagascar FA President argues that CAF’s Executive Committee wields too much political influence on the process of deciding a host for CAF competitions and reveals he wants the Congress to also have an input in the decision making process.
