Nsukka (Enugu state) – Bishop Aloysius Agbo of Anglican Communion Church, Nsukka, has said the life of former First lady of Nigeria, Prof. Uche Azikwe,is worth celebrating.

Agbo made thus known in Nsukka on Saturday at a Church service to mark the 70th birthday of Uche Azikiwe.

He said the late First President of Nigeria, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe’s wife had contributed immensely to the development of her people and Nigeria at large.
“The Anglican Communion Church in Nsukka feels honoured to associate with former first lady and the Azikwe family because of their lives of humility
and sacrifices.

“The family of Azikwe has contributed immensely to the peace and unity of the country.
“The family has contributed also to the Church, this premises of St. John Anglican Church, Nsukka, is where the First President of Nigeria, Dr Nnamdi
Azikwe, had his printing press, but he donated it the to the Church,” he said.

He urged people to always remember God is the source and value of life.
“I urge women in the country to emulate Uche, who in spite of being former first lady and professor, has always remained humble and Godfearing.

In a remark, the first son of the family, Mr Molokwu Azikwe, expressed appreciation to God, who granted their mother life and health to celebrate her 70th birthday.

“I am grateful to God who endowed my mother with life and good health.
“I thank people who come from different walks of life to join us to celebrate our mother,” he said.
Uche said she would ever remain faithful to God for his unquantifiable love and care.

She thanked the Anglican Communion Church for its prayers and support as well as state governors and officials from the Federal and state governments for celebrating with her.

The others at the occasion included former Vice Preident Alex Ekueme and Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state. (NAN)
