As part of measures to cushion the effect of recession on residents, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, yesterday, empowered 3, 000 widows, including aged women.

Ambode, who handed over the materials to the beneficiaries at the second in the series of “Mega Empowerment Programme” for widows, graduates of skill acquisition centres and others, in Ikeja, however, warned the beneficiaries against selling the materials which included; Hair-drier, grinding machine, sewing machines and others.

Ambode was presented by his deputy, Dr. Oluranti Adebule.

,said; “I want to implore you, the beneficiaries, not to sell these materials, please make judicious use of these resources and support the family with the income realized through this government assistance.”

The governor explained that the programme was directed at intensifying the ongoing efforts to reduce poverty and promote the standard of living of women and the elderly within the state.
