UMUAHIA—THE immediate past governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial district, Chief Theodore Orji has urged his Ibeku kinsmen to sustain their support for Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in spite of the legal tussles he is going through.
According to Senator Orji, as good citizens, one of their duties was to pray for and support the government in power.
Senator Orji who spoke when he received the newly elected members of Ibeku Egwuasa Development Association (IEDA) led by the President-General, Mr. Emeka Enyeazu who visited him, admonished them to continue to support Governor Ikpeazu for the good of all Abians.
He reminded them that the Ikpeazu administration was a product of the collective mandate of Abia people, hence the need to support and pray for him to succeed.

The former governor expressed regret that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu is the only governor who is still in court fighting to retain his mandate which he blamed on the type of politics that “some people play in Abia.”
According to him, Ikpeazu should have by this time focuse his attention on governance like other governors instead of fighting election legal battles.
Senator Orji also recalled with regret the type of bad talks that he has been hearing from among some of his kinsmen during his period as the governor of the state, saying that such idle talks continued even after he has left office and moved on to the national assembly.
He said that has done his best to uplift the people of Ibeku and assured that he would do more with any opportunity he has.
“What I want people to appreciate is what God has done for them through me, the level of development seen in Ibeku land [Umuahia Capital territory] today and its environs was of my own making and I intend to do more if the opportunity comes my way”, Orji said.
The ex-governor said he has left tangible things that should make his kinsmen to be proud of him and reminded them that simply because their land hosts the capital city does not give them the right to get things on a platter of gold.
Earlier in his remarks, new the President-General, Emeka Enyeazu, explained that their visit was to introduce the members of the new executive council of Ibeku Development Association and assured Dr Orji that the people of Ibeku were behind him.
