Amid the devastations caused by human interactions on the environment and biodiversity, Naija News has decided to launch a project on dissemination of climate change information, risks and mitigation action.

Naija News hopes to partner with Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) and other environmental oriented institutes to achieve its Goal of enlightening Nigerians on climate change.

Speaking on the news project the Editor-in-Chief of Naija News, Olawale Adeniyi said: “We want to become Africa’s leading innovative media platform driving efforts towards combating climate change, protecting the environment, and connecting far-flung communities in active collaboration along the way”.

“Successful communication on environmental challenges need to be tangible, relevant and tailored to the audience, guided by principles relating to accessibility, actionable, credibility, relevance and understandability of information,” he said

He advised stakeholders to toe the path of environmental protection, warning that if a nation’s environmental foundations are depleted, its economy may well decline, social fabrics deteriorated and the political structure may even become destabilised.

He also advised the media to expand the scope of reporting environmental issues such as flooding, climate change, pollution, waste management, deforestation and make the reports simple to understand for awareness creation.
