Isoko unity group mourns Okpozo

Senator Francis Okpozo

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Isoko North local government area, Delta State under the auspices of Unity Group, have described the late Senator Spanner Okpozo as a politician with high integrity.

Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Chief Tim Owhefere, who led Chief O.S Egwerome, Dr. Patrick Akporuno and Chief Ovie Oghoore and other members of the group on a condolence visit to the family, said the news of his death came to them as a rude shock.

While commiserating with the Okpozo family over the demise of their patriarch, he said that “every Isoko man or woman irrespective of his or her political leanings, sees Senator Okpozo as a man who has contributed immensely to the development of the entire Isoko nation”.

Owhefere said the late Okpozo stood firmly behind him while he contested his first election under the platform of the All Nigerian Peoples Party, ANPP, in 2003.

“Let me start by saying  I am a candidate of the University of Politics of Okpozo. He taught some of us the tricks and antics of politics. His death is a very big loss to all of us in the Isoko nation.

“We, the Isoko political class in Asaba are deeply saddened by the demise of our father who has over the years stood firmly as the pillar of Isoko modern politics”.

“We are here with our leader, Chief O.S Egwerome and several other political figures in Asaba to identify with you people in this moment of grief. We are consoled by the fact that our father led a life we are all proud of today
