LAGOS—With a  passion for children, St. Anne’s School, Ibadan, Old Girls Association, SAGOSA, year 74-79, has implored parents of special- needs children not to abandon them but take them to government who will direct them appropriately.

This call was made as SAGOSA visited Hearts of Gold Children’s Hospice, Surulere, Lagos, to donate cash and gifts.

Commending the founder, Hearts of Gold Children Hospice, Mrs. Laja Adedoyin, President Tinuola Aboyade said; “It gives us immeasurable joy to be here at Hearts of Gold to fellowship with you and commend you for the wonderful job you are doing. No remuneration can adequately compensate your love and efforts at giving succour to these dear little ones. Nonetheless, we have come to give a little token to help your vision.”

Responding, Mrs Adedoyin who has a foundation in Special Education with emphasis on children with mental disabilities, said; “I thank you for commending me and the staff for a job well done. I really thank them. Patience and faith have kept us going strong. I plead with parents, particularly mothers, If you have a disabled child you do not know how to handle, go to government and they will direct you appropriately.”

Immediate past president, SAGOSA, Adebisi Kuforiji, mentioned; “We have been involved in activities that show love towards St. Anne’s, the less privileged and the society. SAGOSA also plans to give back to the school to appreciate the legacy afforded us. Just as Mrs Omobolanle Olonisakin, wife of the Chief of Defence Staff, Major-General Abayomi Gabriel Olonishakin, implored well meaning Nigerians to show interest in special children. “Babies shouldn’t be abandoned, all they need is love. We have come to show our love and support by spending time with them and bringing these  gifts.”
