200 obtain prosthetic limbs in Anambra State

he joy of 200 physically  challenged persons in Anambra State knew no bounds last week as they received prosthetic limbs and Calipers courtesy of the Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFE, project, an initiative of the Wife of the State Governor, Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano.

Speaking during the limb fitting exercise at Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Obiano who was represented by the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Legal Matters, Barrister Vera Okonkwo, said the well-being of the physically challenged and the less privileged is of paramount importance.

“The first step in empowering the physically challenged is to give them mobility to enable them move and engage in something meaningful that can put food on their table. As you can see the beneficiaries are happy because it is a new experience which will make them less dependent and more productive.”

The latest edition of free limb fittings by CAFE brought  the giving out of prosthetic limbs to over 1,000 persons. Obiano  enjoined Ndi Anambra to sustain support for the current State administration’s transformation agenda.

Senior Special Assistant (Media/Events) to the Governor and Programme Coordinator, Dr.  Ify Mmadukasi said the fitting process begins with registration by the intending beneficiaries at the office of the Wife of the Governor, measurement of the missing limb by CAFE partners and eventually, the fitting.
