THE National Assembly recently transferred the power of the president to control the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, and the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, to itself amid sharp disagreements among the lawmakers. At the conclusion of work on the bill to amend the CCB and CCT law, the legislature successfully altered Section 18 (2) to enable it to confer additional powers on the National Assembly instead of the president.

Crises have been averted between some host communities in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State and the Fulani herdsmen, following the intervention of Cleen Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, NGO, during a roundtable discussion, where the parties agreed to embrace peace.

IT was relieving to see President Muhammadu Buhari meeting with the 21 Chibok girls alongside their families at the State House, Abuja, recently. The girls were part of more than 200 kidnapped schoolgirls who were allegedly held captive since April 2014 by members of the notorious Boko Haram terrorists. According to the government, the girls were released after successful negotiations between the sect, the International Committee of the Red Cross, ICRC, as well as the Nigerian and Swiss governments.
