All is set for the re-enacting of the character of the 16th Olu of Warri and the last Warri monarch before the 88 years interregnum in the ancient kingdom, as Alex Eyengho returns to the stage with his historical play, “Olu Akengbuwa” to mark the 1st anniversary of the coronation of His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli, the Olu of Warri.
The historical play which will be staged today, at Brownhill Events Centre, Ogunu, Warri, was first staged last year to mark the 28th anniversary of the coronation of late Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse II.

This year, the play is being staged as part of activities marking the 1st anniversary of the coronation of His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli, the Olu of Warri. Already, the Warri monarch reportedly has thrown his weight behind the staging of the play, together with his council of Chiefs and the central working committee organizing the Oyo-Ekoro activities.
‘Olu Akengbuwa’ is a play that tells the story of the 16th Olu of Warri, who reigned between 1795 and 1848 AD. Notable actors who will be performing in the play include, Nobert Young, Ejike Asiegbu, Lliel Otote, Patrick Doyle, Soibifaa Dokubo, Peter Fatomilola, Toju Ejoh, Stephen Osezua-Imobhio, Femi Olaiya, Efe Mayford-Orhorha, Mary Chukwuma among others.
Among dignitaries that will be storming Warri this afternoon to watch the command performance of the play are Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, former governor of the state, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and Senator Daisy Danjuma among others. His Majesty, Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli will be the royal father of the day.
