ABUJA—An Abuja High Court at Maitama, yesterday, sentenced a 25-year-old man, Idris Abubakar, to death by hanging.

Trial Justice Sadiq Umar, condemned Abubakar to death after he was found guilty of robbery and murder of a pastor.

The convict and one Malam Saidu, who was said to be at large, accosted one Pastor John Ibro on July 8, 2014, when he parked to make a phone call around Sun City and Sunny Vale Estate axis in Abuja, and shot him twice.

They also dispossessed their victim of his gold coloured Toyota Sienna with number plates GWA 873 DR.

Abubakar was later arrested in Kano, where he sold the car for N340,000 to two dealers, Umar Sani and Sarki Ado-Abubakar, who were, however discharged by the court because the convict showed them the original documents and claimed he brought the car from Cotonou, Benin Republic.
