Govt can create jobs, save trillion naira annually through JAMB – Dr Ogudoro

By Simeon Ndaji

Nigerian Government can generate thousands of jobs for the unemployed youths, upgrade the quality of education in the country and save a trillion naira annually by taking steps to tackle the problems associated  with the Joint  Admissions and Matriculation Board(JAMB).

Dr Peter Ogudoro, a United Kingdom based researcher made this statement yesterday in Lagos while speaking to Saturday Vanguard   on his educational research findings  into Africa’s  Development problems  in the UK.

Dr Ogudoro said that of a particular interest to him was how innovative education and development  communication could lift  marginalised Africans out of poverty. He opined that Nigeria could reap demographic dividends from her youthful population if the large army of young people in the country are enabled  through revolutionalised education system, to acquire the knowledge and skills requisite for  their productive participation in the economy.

“The new model of access research findings has the potential to allow professional bodies and other higher education pathways in Nigeria  to provide  undergraduate study opportunities for young people aspiring to study Arts, Humanities  and Social Science courses. The opportunities will be flexible, blended, and at no cost to the government.”
