Ado-Ekiti—The Wife of the Lagos based human right activist, Mrs Funmi Falana, has called on Nigerian women to take every opportunity of electioneering process to prove that they are important and competent just as their male counterparts, to establish gender equality in the country’s governance and reverse the trend of male chauvinism that is taking root in Nigeria.

According to her,  it will be disastrous for Ekiti women to take the back-seat as the state prepares for another governorship election in 2018.

Lamenting the non-release of the over 200 Chibok girls seized by Boko Haram insurgents, Mrs Falana advised President Muhammadu Buhari to expedite actions and ensure that all the girls are freed from captives, adding that failure of government to achieve this will dent the image of the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government. The lawyer and wife of the legal luminary, Mr Femi Falana(SAN), said this in Iyin Ekiti yesterday while donating materials to the Erelu Angela Adebayo Children’s home to mark the annual gift presentation to the orphanage.

Mrs Falana told President Buhari to live up to his promise to free all the Chibok girls, expressing regret that these innocent citizens were still being held   hostage after two years by insurgents.

She also advised non-governmental organisations to continue to partner with government for effective funding of the education of the less privileged in the country.
