BENIN CITY— THE protracted leadership crisis in the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State was resolved weekend, as the leaders anointed the member representing the Local Government in the state House of Assembly, Mr Crosby Eribo, as the interim leader of the party.
Eribo’s endorsement was signed by nine of the ten ward chairmen of the APC in the Council and their executives. They said they decided to put the leadership crisis behind them to focus on assisting Governor Godwin Obaseki to achieve his dreams for the state, particularly in Egor Local Government.
It is their view that Eribo has so far exhibited maturity and sincerity of purpose in his dealings with members of the party, and therefore, possessed the qualities required to lead the party in the council.
In his acceptance speech, Eribo, who also was three times Executive chairman of the council, expressed gratitude for the responsibility bestowed on him to lead the party on an interim basis.
“I did not plan for this neither did I bargained for it. You know that I am the member representing our people at the state assembly and so when the people found that I could lead them so they decided to call on me and I will not disappoint them. I believe in the principle of let the people lead, I have decided to take up the responsibility now on an acting capacity and I want to say that I am promising them that I will be fair to all party members,” he said.
“The people have decided on what they want. There has been a lot of controversy in Egor before and after the election and by this singular act, that crisis is over now. Why do I say so, it’s because there will no longer be factional meetings, act of Nepotism will stop, Egor belong to all of us” he stated.
