ASABA—Delta State Government has set January 31, 2017 as deadline for those who are yet to regularize their lands in the Okpanam core area II, vowing to go tough with anyone who fails to comply with the regularization order.
Noting that it would stick to the N750, 000 regularization fee per plot, the state government said that the reason for the extension of the deadline from December 31, was to enable the affected persons meet up, reiterating that there would no further reduction in the regularisation fee.
This is coming on the heels of Okpanam stakeholder’s submissions to the state government in a joint session, to revisit the regularisation fee after government had given a 50 percent slash from the initial fee of N1.5 million.
The state Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Chief Dan Okenyi, who briefed newsmen in Asaba, said that the state government had given enough concession on the matter, adding that the state needs funds to adequately pilot the business of governance in the state.
