The Delta State House of Assembly has adjourned plenary till January 17, 2017 in Honour of the member representing Warri South Constituency 1, Mrs Omawumi Udoh who died in a hospital in the United Kingdom, Wednesday night.

The Speaker, Rt Hon Monday Igbuya at plenary, announced the demise of Mrs Omawumi Udoh, a fourth term member of the State Legislature, expressing sadness over the death of the lawmaker.

The atmosphere around the entire House of Assembly Complex was solemn, following the sad news that enveloped the environment, the second time such development had occurred since the present democratic dispensation in 1999.

It would be recalled that in 2001, the then Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr Francis Megbele who represented Warri North Constituency died after a protracted illness.

The Speaker described death of the lawmaker who was the Chairman, House Committee on Commerce and Industry and a one time Chief Whip of the House as painful and shocking.

The Speaker announced the suspension of further sitting till January 17 2017 in honor of the departed lawmaker whom many of her colleagues had always referred to as the jewel of the House.
