Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State, has congratulated the Minister of Environment, Hajia Amina Mohammed, on her recent appointment as the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations.
The governor who made this known through the commissioner of Information, Hon. Umar Ahmed Narada in Gombe said, “her appointment comes in recognition of her long standing contributions to the protection and promotion of the rights of the less privileged, the protection of the environment, the promotion of the rights of the girl child (and indeed all children) and sundry other contributions to the overall welfare of people around the globe”.
“This appointment also comes as a recognition of Hajia Mohammed’s ability and capacity to promote the ideals & objectives of the UN in the future. It is my belief that Hajia Mohammed is well suited for this job. Gombe State, and Nigeria at large is privileged to have her as a daughter.”
The governor urged Hajia Mohammed to bring her skills & talents to bear, and to ensure that she leaves the UN, and indeed the world, a better place than it was at the commencement of her tenure.
