The Federal Operations Unit, Zone ‘A’, of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, in Lagos has sealed up no fewer than six large warehouses, over various infractions by their operators.
One of the warehouses has 23,000 bags of imported rice in it.
The Area Controller of the command, Comptroller Haruna Mahmud, who said this in Lagos, yesterday, also indicated that his officers, in October and November, recorded several seizures, whose Duty Paid Value, DPV, amounted to N325.053 million.
Pointing out that the efforts of the Command cuts across other strata, Comptroller Haruna added that his officers also intercepted 1,300 parcels of Indian hemp, and arrested three suspects, whose names were given as Itobo Egede, Munirudeen Ekumopali and Aremu Hameed, all of whom have now been handed over to the NDLEA, Lagos State for prosecution.
