By Ebun Sessou

A lawmaker at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Tunde Braimoh has defended the necessity for Pension Bill for Speakers and Deputy Speakers which is on the floor of the House.

The bill titled:”A Bill For A Law To Amend The Payment of Pensions and Other Fringe  Benefits To Public Office Holders In Lagos State and For Connected Purposes.”

The amendment as proposed would now include the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly under the Payment of Pension Amendment Law 2016.

Braimoh, Chairman, House Committee on Information, Strategy and Security spoke against the backdrop of outrage from some quarters against the proposed Pension Bill at a workshop for media and public affairs team of the Assembly.

Speaking at a workshop for journalists themed; “Legislative Communication and Citizen Engagement-An Integrated Approach”, Braimoh who represented the Speaker of the House said the bill was meant to take care of the leaders of the Lagos State House of Assembly after they must have left office just like  the executive and judiciary,” he said.
