THE people of Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State have commended Governor Godwin Obaseki’s policies and programmes, saying his appointment of two of their sons has ended the age-long marginalization of the people of the area.
Speaking through Akoko-Edo People’s Assembly, APA, the people claimed that they had been marginalized so much that at a time they actually thought that they were not part of Edo State.

Chairman of the group, Dr. Philip Ugbodaga, who spoke during a reception to honour two of their sons, Taiwo Akerele and John Mayaki appointed as Chief of staff and Chief Press Secretary to the state governor, Godwin Obaseki, called on the people of the local government to give the individuals full support and prayers for God to give them strength and wisdom to function effectively.
He said: “We appreciate the gesture and we know that this correction of human marginalization will lead to the correction of infrastructural marginalization in our area over the years. They have huge challenges on their shoulders.”
He said the challenges before the appointees were daunting but implored them to always be good examples to the youths of the locality.
Also speaking, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Justine Okonobo, urged their kinsmen, particularly youths from the locality not to see the appointments as goldmine, but should see their appointments as call to service.
