The police in Ogun on Monday arraigned two men in an Ota Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing roofing sheets valued at N5.6 million.
The accused– Ajelayo Alajede,52; and Allen Anthony,48; –all of unknown addresses, were arraigned on a two-count charge of stealing and conspiracy.
The Prosecutor, Cpl. Abdulkareem Mustapha, told the court that the accused and others still at large committed the offences on January 13 at MNL Sum Company, Ota, Ogun.
According to Mustapha, the accused and their accomplices stole 450 bundles of roofing sheets valued at N5.6 million and belonging to one Chika Success.
He said the offences contravened sections 390(d) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Chief Magistrate Funke Odubanjo granted bail to the accused in the sum of N1 million each with two sureties in like sum.
The sureties, she said, must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court and should be gainfully employed.
Odubanjo also ordered that the sureties swear to an affidavit of means and produce evidence of tax payment from Ogun Government.
In addition, she ordered the sureties to submit four recent passport photographs to the court while their addresses must be verified by the police.
The case was adjourned till Jan. 4, 2017 for hearing. (NAN)
